Health Checks in Cranbourne East Family Clinic support preventive healthcare for people of all ages. Screening recommendations for diverse patient groups, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and refugees, are outlined in the RACGP Red Book.
Our Health Check Services
Blood Pressure
High blood pressure increases the risk of heart disease, stroke and kidney disease. We recommend adults have their blood pressure checked every year.
Diabetes
Diabetes is common and can develop silently. Those who are overweight, over 40, or of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander, Pacific Island or Indian Subcontinent ethnicity should have annual diabetes testing.
Cholesterol
High cholesterol increases the risk of heart disease, stroke and kidney disease. We recommend testing every 2 years from age 45.
Cardiovascular Risk Assessment
This assessment looks at blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes and smoking status to estimate your risk of heart disease or stroke. It should be done every 2 years from age 45.
Kidney Disease Checks
Kidney disease can be linked to diabetes, high blood pressure, smoking and certain medications. We recommend checks every 5 years from age 50.
Skin Checks
Skin cancer affects 2 out of 3 Australians during their lifetime. We recommend a skin check every year.
Cervical Screening Test
The Cervical Screening Test should be done every 5 years from age 25, or every 2 years if your last test was a Pap Smear.
Bowel Cancer Screening
Bowel cancer screening using the faecal occult blood test should be done every 2 years from age 50.
Breast Cancer Screening
Women should have a mammogram every 2 years over the age of 50.

At Cranbourne East Family Clinic, we recommend seeing your GP to discuss what check-ups are appropriate for you.
Prolonged Health Assessment (PHA)
We also recommend a Prolonged Health Assessment (PHA) for everyone aged 45–49 and over 70.
Included in this assessment is:
- Body measurements – height, weight, BP, pulse and more
- Pathology blood test including levels of cholesterol, diabetes, liver, kidney disease, prostate cancer
- Lifestyle assessment – mental health, family medical history, current lifestyle
- Vision assessment
- Lung function assessment
- Skin check
- Hearing assessment
- Resting ECG
